NTA Invites Online Applications for NIFTEE 2026 for UG, PG, NLEA, Artisans and PhD Admissions
NIFTEE 2026 Stage-1 Exam to Be Held on 8 February 2026 Across 100 Cities in CBT and PBT Modes
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an official notification inviting online applications for the National Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Examination (NIFTEE) 2026. As per the Public Notice dated 08 December 2025, NTA will conduct NIFTEE-2026 on behalf of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) for admissions to Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), NLEA (Lateral Entry), Artisans, and PhD programmes for the Academic Session 2026–27.
NIFTEE 2026 Examination Mode and Language
The NIFTEE 2026 examination will be conducted in:
- 100 cities across India
- Hindi and English mediums
- Computer Based Test (CBT) and Paper Based Test (PBT) modes
(depending on the programme and test component)

Programmes Covered Under NIFTEE 2026 Stage-1
Undergraduate Programmes
- Bachelor of Design (B.Des.)
- Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech.)
Admissions will be based on:
- General Ability Test (GAT) and/or
- Creative Ability Test (CAT) (as applicable)
Postgraduate Programmes
- Master of Design (M.Des.)
- Master of Fashion Management (M.F.M.)
- Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech.)
Selection will be based on:
- GAT and/or CAT, followed by Personal Interview (PI) where applicable
NIFT Lateral Entry Admissions (NLEA)
Candidates can apply for:
- B.Des. (Lateral Entry)
- B.F.Tech. (Lateral Entry)
as per eligibility criteria mentioned in the NIFT Admissions Guidelines 2026.
Artisans Category
Applications under the Artisans Category (for B.Des.) will be accepted as per NIFT norms.
PhD Admissions
- Written Test conducted by NIFT
- Followed by Research Proposal Presentation and Interview (RPPI)
NIFTEE 2026 Question Paper Pattern and Shortlisting Criteria
- B.Des.: GAT + CAT → Situation Test
- B.F.Tech.: GAT only
- M.Des.: GAT + CAT → Personal Interview
- M.F.M.: GAT → Personal Interview
- M.F.Tech.: GAT → Personal Interview
- PhD: Written Test → RPPI
Separate Common Merit Ranks (CMRs) will be generated for different programmes as specified by NIFT.
Application Process and Document Requirements
- Applications must be submitted online only
- Candidates must upload:
- Recent photograph
- Signature
- Live photograph (during application)
- Aadhaar-based e-KYC may be required
- PwD / PwBD candidates must upload a valid UDID Card
