The (NTA) has officially extended the online application registration schedule for Stage-1 of the National Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Examination (NIFTEE) 2026. The decision has been taken following a request from the (NIFT) to ensure wider participation of eligible candidates across the country.
According to the latest public notice dated December 30, 2025, the extension aims to provide additional time to aspirants, especially in view of the recent increase in the number of examination cities. NTA stated that the revised schedule will help more candidates complete the application process smoothly and avoid last-minute technical issues.
Why the NIFTEE 2026 Registration Has Been Extended
The online registration process for NIFTEE 2026 was earlier notified through a public notice dated December 8, 2025. However, with the addition of new examination cities and requests from NIFT, the exam authority decided to extend the deadline so that a larger pool of candidates gets a fair opportunity to apply.
NTA clarified that the extension is intended to benefit aspirants from various regions and to ensure maximum participation in the entrance examination.
Revised Schedule for NIFTEE 2026 Stage-1 Examination
As per the updated notification, the revised timelines for NIFTEE 2026 Stage-1 are as follows:

Late fee: ₹5,000 (in addition to the application fee) -
Correction window for application form (online only):
January 18, 2026 to January 19, 2026
Candidates are advised to carefully review all details during the correction window, as no further opportunity for editing will be provided after this period.
Increase in NIFTEE 2026 Examination Cities
NTA reiterated that NIFTEE 2026 was initially announced with 100 examination cities. However, following a separate public notice issued on December 23, 2025, the number of exam cities has now been increased to 102.
This expansion is expected to reduce travel inconvenience for candidates and improve accessibility, particularly for aspirants from remote regions.
No Change in Eligibility, Exam Pattern or Rules
The exam authority has clearly stated that:

- Stage-wise admission process
- Instructions mentioned in the Information Bulletin
will remain unchanged. All conditions will continue to be governed by the official Information Bulletin and earlier public notices issued for NIFTEE 2026.
