Candidates dissatisfied with the provisional answer key can submit challenges during the official objection window.

  • Last date to challenge: 17 January 2026 (up to 11:50 PM)
  • Last date for fee payment: 17 January 2026 (up to 11:50 PM)

No objections will be accepted after the deadline.

Official Procedure to Challenge UGC NET Answer Key (As Per NTA – Annexure I)

Candidates must strictly follow the procedure issued by NTA while raising objections.

Step 1: Visit the Official Website

Go to the NTA UGC NET portal:

Step 2: Click on “Challenge(s) regarding Answer Key”

On the homepage, click the link related to challenging the answer key.

Step 3: Login with Credentials

Enter your Application Number and Date of Birth/Password to log in.

Step 4: View Question Paper & Answer Key

Click on “View Question Paper” to see your marked responses.
Then click “View/Challenge Answer Key” to access the provisional answers.

Step 5: Check Question IDs Carefully

All questions will appear in sequential order by Question ID. Candidates are advised to match questions strictly as per the displayed Question ID.

Step 6: Understand the Correct Option Column

  • The ID shown under “Correct Option(s)” represents the provisional answer used by NTA.
  • Dropped questions, if any, will be highlighted and cannot be challenged.

Step 7: Select the Option to Challenge

If you disagree with the answer, select one or more Option IDs provided by ticking the checkbox.

Step 8: Save Your Claim

After selecting the desired option, scroll down and click on “Save Your Claims”.

Step 9: Review All Challenges

A screen will display all the Option IDs you have challenged.

Step 10: Modify Claims (If Required)

If you wish to make changes, click on “Modify Your Claims” and resubmit.

Step 11: Upload Supporting Documents

Candidates can upload supporting documents by clicking “Choose File”.
📌 Note: All documents must be uploaded in a single PDF file.

Step 12: Pay the Challenge Fee

Click on “Save Your Claims and Pay Fee” and complete the payment of ₹200 per question.

Step 13: Final Submission

The challenge will be considered only after successful payment. No offline submissions are allowed.

What Happens After the Challenge Submission?

Once the challenge window closes:

  • All objections are reviewed by a panel of subject experts
  • If a challenge is found valid, the answer key is revised
  • The revised answer is applied to all candidates
  • A final answer key is prepared
  • Results are declared based on the final key

Candidates will not be individually informed about the acceptance or rejection of their challenges. The decision of the expert committee is final.
