UGC NET 2025 Day 1 Exam Begins December 31: Subject-Wise Schedule, Admit Card Status, Exam Pattern and Key Instructions

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is all set to begin the UGC NET December 2025 examination from December 31, 2025, marking the start of Day 1 of the December session. The national-level eligibility test will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode at examination centres across the country for candidates seeking eligibility for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
As per the official schedule released by NTA, the UGC NET December 2025 examination will continue till January 7, 2026, covering 85 subjects in multiple shifts on different days. For Day 1, the exam will be conducted in a single morning shift, and the NTA has already released the UGC NET 2025 admit card for candidates appearing on December 31.
UGC NET 2025 Day 1 Exam: Subjects Scheduled on December 31
On the first day of the UGC NET December 2025 session, the examination will be held for the following subjects:
- Law
- Social Work
- Tourism Administration and Management
- Prakrit
- Telugu
- Spanish
- Kashmiri
- Konkani
These subjects will be examined in a single shift from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Candidates appearing for these subjects must strictly adhere to the reporting time mentioned on their admit card, as late entry is not permitted once the examination gate closes.
UGC NET 2025 Exam Pattern and Duration
The UGC NET 2025 examination follows a uniform pattern for all subjects:
- Paper 1: Teaching and Research Aptitude
- Paper 2: Subject-specific paper
Both papers are conducted together in one continuous session of three hours, with no break in between.

UGC NET 2025 Admit Card for December 31 Exam
The NTA has already released the UGC NET 2025 admit card for candidates scheduled to appear on December 31, 2025. The admit card is available only in online mode on the official website:
Candidates must download their hall ticket using:
- Application Number
- Date of Birth
- Security Pin
No admit card will be sent by post or email.
Important Instructions for December 31 Candidates
Candidates appearing on Day 1 must ensure the following:
- Carry a printed copy of the admit card
- Carry one original photo ID proof (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving Licence)
- Reach the exam centre before the reporting time
- Appear only at the exam centre mentioned on the admit card
- Do not carry mobile phones, calculators, smart watches, or any electronic gadgets
Candidates without a valid admit card and photo ID will not be allowed to appear for the examination.
What to Do in Case of Admit Card Issues
If any candidate:
- Faces difficulty in downloading the admit card, or
- Finds discrepancies in details such as name, photograph, subject, or exam centre
They must immediately contact the NTA Helpdesk through the official helpline numbers or email provided on the UGC NET portal. Early reporting is advised to avoid last-minute complications.
