Allahabad High Court Private Secretary Exam 2026: Important Rules and Selection Process Explained

The Allahabad High Court has released detailed guidelines regarding the Private Secretary Grade-I Recruitment Examination 2026. The notification explains how the examination stages will be conducted, the number of candidates to be shortlisted, and the preparation of the final merit list.

Candidates applying for the 195 Private Secretary posts should carefully understand the examination rules and recruitment process before appearing for the exam.

Examination Will Be Conducted in Multiple Stages

The recruitment process for the post of Private Secretary Grade-I will be conducted in three separate stages, each held on different dates.

The stages include:

1️⃣ Stage-I Examination (Written Test)
2️⃣ Stage-II Examination (Shorthand Dictation Test)
3️⃣ Stage-III Examination (Interview)

Each stage plays a crucial role in determining the final merit list.

Stage-I Examination Structure

The first stage of the recruitment examination will consist of three parts:

  • Part-A – General Studies
  • Part-B – Computer Knowledge / Typing Test
  • Part-C – Translation Test

These three parts will be conducted in a single shift, with a 15-minute gap between each part.

Typing Speed Evaluation Rule

The required typing speed in English will be calculated based on the number of correctly typed words during the test.

Only accurate words typed by the candidate will be considered while calculating the typing speed.

Exam Submission Process

During the examination:

  • The “Submit” button will remain active throughout the entire test duration.
  • Candidates can submit the test anytime before the end of the exam by clicking the submit button.

However, once the exam is submitted:

⚠ The candidate cannot leave the examination centre and must remain seated at the allotted desk until permitted.

If the candidate does not submit the exam manually, the test will automatically be submitted when the time expires.

Mandatory Participation in All Stages

Candidates must appear in all parts and stages of the recruitment examination.

If a candidate fails to appear in any stage of the exam, they will not be considered for further selection.

Shortlisting for Stage-II (Shorthand Test)

After Stage-I results are declared:

✔ Ten times the number of vacancies in each category will be shortlisted.

These candidates will be invited to appear for:

✍ Stage-II Examination – Shorthand Dictation Test

The shortlisting will be done based on merit in Stage-I examination marks.

Shortlisting for Stage-III (Interview)

After completion of Stage-II:

✔ Three times the number of vacancies in each category will be shortlisted for the interview.

The shortlist will be prepared based on the combined marks of Stage-I and Stage-II examinations.

Information About Stage-II and Stage-III

The date, time and venue for the next stages of the examination will be announced through:

  • Public notices
  • Separate admit cards uploaded on the official websites

Candidates must regularly check the official portals for updates.

Preparation of Final Merit List

The final merit list will be prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained in all three stages:

  • Stage-I
  • Stage-II
  • Stage-III

The merit list will remain valid for one year or until the next recruitment process begins, whichever occurs earlier.

Tie-Breaking Rule in Merit List

If two or more candidates secure the same marks, preference will be given to:

📅 The candidate who is older in age

The older candidate will be placed higher in the final merit list.

Language of Question Paper

The Stage-I Part-A question paper will be available in both:

  • English
  • Hindi

However, in case of any discrepancy between the two versions, the English version will be considered final.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

The Recruitment Committee has the authority to fix minimum qualifying marks at any stage of the examination if required.

This decision will be taken depending on the overall performance of candidates.

Level of Question Paper

The level of questions in the examination will be based on:
