NIFTEE 2026 Examination Cities Expanded: NTA Adds Vapi and Daman, Total Centres Rise to 102

New Delhi | Education Desk | December 23, 2025

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the addition of new examination cities for the National Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Examination (NIFTEE) 2026, bringing welcome relief to thousands of aspirants preparing for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).

The decision has been communicated through an official Public Notice dated December 23, 2025, issued while the online registration process for NIFTEE 2026 is still ongoing. The move aims to improve accessibility, reduce travel burden, and ensure smoother conduct of the entrance examination across the country.

Background: NIFTEE 2026 Registration in Progress

The online application process for NIFTEE 2026 began earlier as per the public notice released on December 8, 2025. Since then, a large number of candidates from different regions have been registering for the entrance test, which is the gateway to various design, technology, and management programmes offered by NIFT campuses across India.

Considering feedback from aspirants and logistical inputs from NIFT, the NTA has now decided to expand the list of examination cities to better serve candidates, especially those from regions where access to exam centres was limited.

New Examination Cities Added for NIFTEE 2026

As per the latest notification, two new examination cities have been added to the existing list:

  • Vapi, Gujarat – City Code: GJ34
  • Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (UT) – City Code: DD01

These cities have been included after requests from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and with a focus on the convenience and benefit of aspirants from the surrounding areas.

The inclusion of Vapi and Daman is expected to significantly reduce long-distance travel for candidates from southern Gujarat and nearby Union Territories.

Total Examination Cities Increase to 102

Before this update, 100 examination cities were already available for NIFTEE 2026 across India. With the addition of the two new centres, the total number of examination cities has now increased to 102.

This expansion reflects NTA’s effort to provide:

  • wider geographical coverage
  • better regional balance
  • enhanced candidate convenience
  • improved logistical planning

The agency has emphasized that the increased number of centres will help manage candidate volume more efficiently and reduce overcrowding at popular locations.

Option to Change Exam City During Correction Window

The NTA has also clarified that candidates who have already submitted their application forms and selected different examination cities will not be disadvantaged by this update.

Such candidates will be allowed to opt for the newly added cities during the correction window, which will open after the closure of the application submission deadline. The exact dates for the correction window will be announced separately.

During this period, candidates can:

  • modify their preferred exam city
  • correct minor errors in the application form (as permitted)

Applicants are advised to monitor official announcements closely to avoid missing this opportunity.

Guidance for New Applicants

Candidates who are yet to complete their registration can directly select Vapi or Daman as their preferred examination city while filling out the NIFTEE 2026 application form, provided these options are available at the time of submission.

The NTA has strongly advised candidates not to wait until the last date to submit their applications, as last-minute rush often leads to technical issues, server congestion, or incomplete submissions.

Exam Centre Allotment Policy Explained

While candidates are allowed to select preferred examination cities, the NTA has reiterated that final allotment of exam centres is subject to administrative and logistical considerations.

Although every effort will be made to allot a centre in one of the cities chosen by the candidate, the agency reserves the right to allot a centre in a city other than the candidate’s preference, depending on factors such as:

  • availability of centres
  • number of applicants
  • operational feasibility

Candidates are therefore encouraged to remain flexible and plan travel accordingly.

No Change in Other Terms and Conditions

The NTA has confirmed that all other terms and conditions mentioned in:

  • the official Information Bulletin, and
  • earlier Public Notices

will remain unchanged for the NIFTEE 2026 examination cycle. The addition of exam cities does not affect eligibility criteria, exam pattern, syllabus, or admission policies.

Why the Expansion of Exam Cities Matters

The addition of new examination cities is a significant step towards making national-level entrance examinations more inclusive. By expanding the list of centres, the NTA aims to:

  • reduce financial burden on candidates
  • minimize travel-related stress
  • improve attendance and punctuality
  • enhance overall examination experience

For aspirants from Gujarat and nearby regions, the new centres at Vapi and Daman are expected to make a meaningful difference.

What Candidates Should Do Next

With registrations ongoing, candidates should:

  • review the updated list of exam cities
  • complete applications well before the deadline
  • keep track of correction window notifications
  • follow only official NTA and NIFT updates

Staying informed and acting early will help candidates avoid last-minute complications and ensure a smooth examination process.
